Adam Garnek [Poland] EKRAN 2018, EKRAN NA ŻYCZENIE, FIKCJA I REALNOŚĆ
sculptures from the STALOWE EKRANY series
building of the Cultural Centre in Lublin, 12 Peowiaków St.
Two sculptures: “Screen 2018” and “Screen on request” were created for public places, building halls , corridors, railway stations. The third sculpture : ‘Fiction and Reality’ was created for more ‘intimate’ situations, but still accessible spaces.
The artist is fascinated by the rectangular format through which man has learned to view the world. Portraying the world in the convention of the rectangle is a very human, synthetic point of view, because there are no rectangles in nature. The steel screens are curios, interactive sculptures – self-contained entities accessible to the public.

ADAM GARNEK
Born in 1964, in Kazimiera Wielka, creator of sculptures and installations. In 1983-1988 he studied at the Faculty of Painting, Graphics and Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. In 1988, he obtained his diploma from the Faculty of Sculpture. Like the Futurists, he is fascinated by movement and machines. He constructs devices, most often in the form of mobiles, which only seemingly serve a practical purpose. The dynamics unleashed in interaction with the viewer constitute their aesthetic dimension, and the changes taking place are often more important than the object itself.
